This is just a quick blog post to remind us where we started (for those of us who were there), or to provide a tiny bit of background (for those of us who were not). Food4Lompoc started with Food4THOUGHT. On January 28, a lively crowd discussed the "Transition Movement" - and we decided we wanted to learn more about community gardening in Lompoc.
Here are the videos we
- graphic info (1 minute)
- Rob Hopkins interview (6+ minutes)
- Rob Hopkins Ted Talk (8+ minutes)
- Start Something Together (6+ minutes)
- San Diego Transitions (5+ minutes)
Our take-aways?
- Community gardening is a possible catalyst for "changing the story of the place where you are." There are a few of us who wonder if growing food could lead to growing community, right here in Lompoc.
- We want to know more about Lompoc's community and school gardens. How can we get involved?
Stay tuned! Come to our next Food4Thought, February 25, 6 - 8 pm, at 1507 W. College (in the social hall of the First Christian Church). Bring a dish to share if you're able.
If you're not able to join us on February 25 (or even if you can), sign up on the sidebar, and we'll keep you updated.
